About this event:

Join Steve for an afternoon of mental and physical training.

This seminar is for any athlete (or non-athlete) who wants to prepare the joints for the stresses of combat sport.

In this seminar you will learn:

the difference between joint mobility and flexibility

how the disparity in your mobility and flexibility indicates your likelihood of injury

how to assess your own joint function and range

how good posture is indivisible from joint mobility

You will come away with exercises to maintain joint integrity and joint health -- for the long haul and long career in sport.

If you have suffered past joint injuries you will learn how many of these same exercises are key to rehabilitating to full range of motion and full joint function.

Learn special exercises to increase joint strength and integrity in ranges of motion not addressed in conventional modalities

In other words these exercises are your new bottom line: forget the kettlebells sandbags and barbells.

Here's a radical thought: Gym implements will not meet your needs for specific strength.

Break from convention and discover rational training!

Learn biomechanical exercises to strengthen:

finger and toes;

wrists and ankles;

knees elbows;

shoulders and hips;

neck and spine.

Learn how to implement a joint mobility-strength program into your current training.

Learn how to preserve your youth and health and make jiu jitsu a lifelong pursuit instead of succumbing to the common short-term burnout and injury.

About this event:

I've recently re-discovered isometric training. I knew about isometrics as a kid and as a young wrestler used it as a supplementary workout and got great strength results. It's one of those things that in retrospect, I wonder why I ever stopped.

In this seminar, I'll explain every aspect of isometrics, and put a real modern twist on the traditions.

At this seminar, you will learn how to work yourself from head-to-toe, using nothing more than a simple strap, belt, or towel. I love the portability, availability, and simplicity of the isometric protocols and I will show you many of the awesome uses and exercises I have developed for myself and my clients over the years. My favorite is the Advanced Timed-Static Contraction (TSC) protocol.

Isometrics are nothing new, they've been around ever since warriors started training. Isometrics were popularized by Alexander Zass, a Russian strongman and circus performer and were re-popularized by the venerable York Barbell Club when I was a kid in the 1960s.

The TSC protocol was originally developed for people in post-surgical, or post-injury, rehabilitation. One of the great things about isometrics is that even if you are injured -- even confined to a hospital bed -- you can give yourself a great workout from head-to-toe that is not only strength-productive, with a pronounced training effect, but can provide a great cardio-vascular training as well.

In this seminar, here are the specific things I will show:

  • The difference between Timed-Static Contraction and traditional 3-position isometric protocols -- and why TSC is superior
  • The difference between yielding and overcoming isometrics -- and how both are very useful
  • How you can get a complete and productive workout, even in a hotel room, with nothing but your body and a simple strap
  • How you can make your own simple isometrics suspension device, with convenient handles
  • Effective exercises for feet, ankles; calves; thighs; hips; knees; back; chest; arms; shoulders and lats -- as well as specific neck and jaw muscles -- and why it is so important to work the neck and jaw
  • Facial isometrics to help prevent premature aged appearance
  • Why isometrics training is a great fit for martial artists -- especially for MMA and grapplers
  • How isometrics are so adaptive they can be used for housewives, executive businessmen, and elite athletes
  • How you can combine the most relevant isometrics into your current workout program

This seminar is for people of all walks of life, all ages. It is particularly good for working around -- and rehabilitaing -- injury; thus even if you are weak, hurt, or otherwise suffering, you will definitely want to attend this seminar and discover how you can get yourself into shape with confidence and without risking further bodily harm in training.

I have been using these isometric protocols for myself and my clients for several years now and getting tremendous positive feedback from around the globe.
